The many different engine/carburetor combinations offered by Honda makes it pretty difficult to write up an application guide (such as below) and cover all cases. When Andy F. wrote in to say that he knew he had a 1.5l 83 Civic Wagon but wasn't sure if it was a CVCC or not, we went to work making sure we got him the right carburetor. Turns out his EM1 engine has the 3-bbl Keihin carburetor. That particular combination isn't shown below, but the K725 was the right kit for his Honda. 32/36 DGEV - Good upgrade in performance with good fuel economy. This is a downdraft carburetor with an electric choke. 32mm primary, 36mm secondary. Primary opens when you nail the throttle, secondary opens progressively as the vacuum increases. Like a stock carburetor but better. Weber better.
38 DGES - Huge upgrade in performance. Fuel economy might suffer when you start romping around with all of this newfound horsepower. Two 38mm barrels that open synchronously (together) when you nail the throttle. This is a LOT of carburetor. Add a header and you've got a nice street monster.
40 DCOE - Now you're getting all crazy on me. 2 carburetors, 4 barrels, 40mm each. No choke. There is an enrichening valve (sort of like a choke) but if you're looking for fast starts on cold mornings then look up at the downdrafts. These are racing carburetors.
