Engine oil not only serves as a lubricant for moving parts, but as a coolant for the crankshaft, rods and pistons. The bottom end of the engine relies solely on engine oil for cooling. For this reason, maintaining the correct oil temperature is critical to the engine's performance and longevity.
Because the latest generation of engines are smaller, run at higher RPMs and produce more heat, maintaining the correct oil temperature is imperative. In addition, most engines have less oil capacity, putting more of a strain on the oil and all engine components. All Perma-Cool® Oil Coolers are engineered for maximum cooling efficiency with no restriction of oil flow. Installing a Perma-Cool® Oil Cooler is the best thing you can do for your engine.
| Universal Engine Oil Cooler Kits |
Universal Engine Oil Cooler Kits fit engines with the following spin-on filter thread sizes: 3/4"-16, 13/16"-16, 1"-12, M18 x 1.5, M20 x 1.5 and M22 x 1.5. Kits are available with our best-selling sandwich-style filter system which retains the factory oil filter location, or a remote sytle filter system which relocates the oil filter to a more convenient location in the engine compartment. Both full-flow systems use oil filters with 3/4"-16 threads such as Perma-Cool P/N 81008, Fram® PH8A or equivalent (oil filter not included). Kits include oil hose, illustrated multilingual instructions, and all necessary mounting hardware.
Also recommended with an oil cooler kit is the purchase of an Inline Oil Cooler Thermostat. These allow quicker oil warm-up and prevent over-cooling in cold climates. They can be found on the PermaCool Remote Oil Thermostat Page.
